My intention was, as I’ve already mentioned, to come by car, because I would like to be mobile. Is it a good idea or not? What are the weather/road conditions from March to May in southern Finland? Is it possible to drive with a “continental” winter equipment (winter tyres plus chains) or would I need something special? My car went all over Finland already, but that was in the summer time, in July…
Please give me your suggestions.

We Finns, we don’t use chains, because the roads are usually cleaned very well. However, we use winter tyres, normally with metal studs (or pins) from November to April or even May. The studs are not obliged, but the winter tyres with heavy patters (deeper tracks in the tire surface) are. So the normal winter tyres without pins would be fine for you.
